I took a more interesting route.
One that spans over two decades, several industries, an international trading company, and a finance function in a fast-growing multinational. Along the way I picked up an ICB qualification with distinction - and a deep understanding of how businesses of all kinds are put together, and what they need to thrive.

One of the things I've noticed across years of working with business owners is that the numbers themselves are rarely the problem. The problem is that nobody ever took the time to explain what they mean.
Part of what I do - with every client, as standard - is make sure that changes. Not at an overwhelming level of detail - just enough to feel in control, and enough that when I tell you something about your business, it actually means something.
This is how I work. Not as someone who handles the finances while you look the other way - though the finances do get handled, properly and reliably - but as someone in your corner who makes sure you always understand what's going on.
