New Business

Get You Going

You've got a business to build. Let's make sure the foundations don't slow you down.

Whether you're about to launch or you've already started and been too busy to think about any of the formal stuff - this is exactly where to begin.

The knowledgeable friend everyone wishes they had at the start

Get You Going is the knowledgeable friend everyone wishes they had at the start - or wishes they'd had, if they're already underway. Someone who asks the right questions, helps you think through things you didn't know you needed to think about, and makes sure nothing important gets missed - not just the numbers, but the broader picture too. Someone genuinely in your corner from the very first step.

Two to three sessions, a fixed package, and a financial review built in once you're up and running. Scope is deliberately wider than the numbers - business structure, obligations, insurance, H&S, the questions you didn't know to ask. Because they always come up.

A lot of new businesses run on instinct for the first few months. That's not a problem. Get You Going is for exactly that point - when you're ready to make sure the foundations are right.

Starting a business - or sorting one that's already started - is one of the most important things you'll do. Getting the financial side right makes everything that follows simpler, cleaner, and a lot less stressful.

What it covers

Everything you need to get the foundations right - delivered across two to three structured sessions.

The curriculum is the same for every client because the foundations are the same for every business. What changes is the conversation around them.

This isn't a financial induction. It's a proper conversation - methodical, unhurried, and as broad as it needs to be.

  • Business structure - sole trader or limited company, and what that actually means for you in practice
  • Your financial obligations - what needs filing, when, and why, in plain English
  • VAT and payroll - whether they apply, when they kick in, and what to do before they do
  • The right accounting software, set up correctly from day one
  • Financial policies established - how your accounts will work, what goes where, and why
  • Basic training - invoicing, receipt capture, reconciliation. Enough to run your books confidently.
  • The broader questions - insurance, H&S basics, and anything else that comes up
Built-in checkpoint

One Taking Stock review is included in the package.

Scheduled four to eight weeks after your final session - once you've been running things yourself for a while. A proper check on how self-managing is actually going. Are the books being maintained? Any early issues worth catching? Do you feel in control?

It plants the idea from the very start that good financial management is a rhythm, not a one-off. Not a check-up - a conversation.

Most clients find themselves in one of two places after Taking Stock - and both are good outcomes. There is no wrong answer.

What comes next

After Taking Stock, an honest conversation about where things stand.

You're confident. The books are in good shape. You want to carry on.

Taking Stock stays available whenever a professional eye would help - quarterly, six-monthly, or when something comes up. You built the business. You know how to run it.

You'd rather hand the finances over and focus on what you actually love doing.

Your Finance Function is the natural next step. And because we've already worked together, getting started is simpler than starting from scratch.

Ready when you are
